Updates on Geologic News
There's a really interesting article from the USGS (United States Geological Survey) that talks about some science research going on this month. The article discusses many different scientific issues, but there were a couple that caught my eye about earthquakes since we've been talking about them a lot lately. The article said that Americans in 39 different states are at risk because of earthquakes. The article said that monitoring technology for these earthquakes is outdated, 40 years old! The USGS is going to give money to college universities all around to install new earthquake monitors. The monitors will let scientists be able to respond to threats of earthquakes quickly so that lives and money from damages can be saved.
Besides this, there were 15 different October science highlights that were really interesting and good to read. Here's the link to the article:

That's so scary! Hopefully Illinois is not one of those 39 states that is at risk for earthquakes, since we rarely get earthquakes and if we do they are tiny.
