A suggested wind farm in the mountain region of western Maryland is causing plenty of controversy. Synergetics Wind Energy company wants to put up 20 wind turbines on Backbone mountain in Garret County, Maryland. The problem is, the project needs approval from the local government. Area residents are very unhappy with the idea of wind farms near them, which seek to reduce American dependence on natural gas and coal by using cleaner forms of energy, like wind. They are concerned about possible noise issues, vibration, and even the turbines collapsing, and they are going to the state capital in Baltimore to protest about it. One man refuses to let them build within 2,600 feet of his property. This is all causing an endless delay for the project. Residents also doubt that it will provide much workable energy. So for now, Maryland will have to wait for its first ever wind turbines.
