Minerals Are Everywhere
I found an article that really talked about how minerals are everywhwere in everyday life. It said According to the U.S. Bureau of Mines, the average person consumes or uses 40,000 pounds of minerals every year. Over the course of a lifetime, an individual will use more than 1,050 pounds of lead, 1,050 pounds of zinc, 1,750 pounds of copper, 4,550 pounds of aluminum, 91,000 pounds of iron and steel, 360,500 pounds of coal, and one million pounds of industrial minerals such as limestone, clay, and gravel. It then went on to talk about how when you wake up in the morning and you turn off your alarm clock it is made of limestone, mica, talc, silica, and clays. Then when you go to brush your teeth the toothbrush is made from limestone, mica, talc, clays, and petroleum products. Then when you go to work and use your laptop it is made from gold, silica, nickel, aluminum, zinc, iron, petroleum products, and thirty other minerals. And finnaly when you come home and turn on the tv the tv is made from silica, iron, copper, aluminum, and nickel. And it just amazed me how these minerals are everywhere.
