11/3

Today in class we did two labs. The first lab was where we had to label the different plates and also label many different geological features that go along with these plates and at their boundries. These features include...
  • Volcanoes
  • Trenches
  • Oceanic ridges
  • Hot spots
We learned that most of the oceanic ridges are located in the Atlantic ocean, while most of the trenches are in the pacific.
The second lab we did was a lab involving the spreading of the sea floor in the Atlantic. We had to measure and find how fast the sea floor is spreading using proportions. It turns out that the Atlantic ocean was first formed in the Jurassic period. This explains why there are sililar fossils on the eastern coast of South America and western Africa. Overall we reviewed and learned about what ye learned on Monday. We were able to see what we learned yesterday.

Finally it's Katie's turn to do the final scribe post for this rotation!
