Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano in Pierce County Washington, 54 miles southeast of Seattle. The summit of Mount Rainier reaches 14,411 feet. About 10,000 people attempt to summit Mount Rainier every year and just over half end up making it to the top. Weather and reactions to high altitude can impact the success of a climb. On average around three people each year loose their lives attempting to summit Mount Rainier. When Mount Rainier finally erupts it will create a serious impact. The eruption may result in all of the following: floods, lahars, landslides, pyroclastic flows, lava flows, and tephra fallout.
