The Oceanic and Continental crusts are the two parts that make up the top layer of our earth, as contained within the lithosphere. Oceanic crust is made out of basalt. It is more dense and heavy than continental crust, which is why it subducts under when the two meet. Continental on the other hand is made of granite and is thicker than the oceanic. These are what collide and seperate to drive plate tectonics. Continental crust is also older than oceanic crust.
