PLANET EARTH!!!

Today we finished watching the Planet Earth mountain segment!! It was really interesting to learn about how different animal's living environments are altered by their habitat in the mountains. We saw a mother panda bear nursing her 3 week year old cub, watched tiny monkeys scavenge through snow for food, and learned about the dangerous and unpredictable migration pattern of birds who fly over Mt. Everest. I thought it was especially interesting to watch how the mountain segment was filmed. The largest challenge that the camera crew faced was obtaining footage of the snow leopard. After limited success at their first location, the crew hiked up the deep alps in Pakistan in hopes of a glimpse of the rare animal. After weeks and weeks of filming 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night, the crew finally got lucky and found a mother leopard and her cub. It was fascinating to learn about the obstacles and rewards of a Planet Earth camera crew. It seems like a very treacherous job that demands patience and flexibility. But in the end, when their goals were finally reached, I bet it would be all worth it!
