Volcanoes Affecting Oxygen Atmosphere

Research suggests that vocanoes are one of the sources that allowed oxygen to fill our atmosphere, allowing organisms to survive on land. Submarine volcanos erupt at a lower temperature than terrestrial volcanoes. Therefore they are more reducing, this reducing ability had a drastic effect when the reducing ability ofsubmarine volcanoes was higher than the amount of oxygen created. but when terrestrial volcanoes dominated, oxygen levels began to increase. When oxygen levels increased organisms began to evolve into more complex organisms that were oxygen breathing. Terrestrial volcanoes are one of the main reasons that land grew to what it is today.
